Kalpana heads the organisation and is involved in designing projects and creating partnerships, both government and civil society. She is a social researcher with over 25 years’ experience working on issues of gender, safety and inclusive urbanisation. She has written extensively on the issue and co-edited a book on Gender Inclusive Urbanisation. She has led large global projects and provided technical support on women’s safety to several cities. She has been a member of several government committees including Delhi Government Women’s Safety Group, BPRD committee on Safe City Indicators among others.
She is a member Emeritus of the Advisory Group on Gender Issues at UN Habitat and knowledge partner to UN Women’s Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces Global Program. She is the Chairperson of Jagori, a well-established women’s NGO and a Board member of the International Centre for the Prevention of Crime and Swayam women’s centre.
