About Safetipin
Safetipin (www.safetipin.com) is a social impact organization working towards Building Responsive, Inclusive, Safe and Equitable Urban Systems. We collaborate with government and non- government stakeholders in using big data to improve infrastructure and services in cities. We are a small multi-disciplinary group of social scientists, architects, urban planners, designers and technologists.
About the role We are seeking a candidate with an academic background in social sciences (such as sociology, development studies, gender studies, or related fields), and prior work experience in the development sector or public policy. The candidate will support the team through primary and secondary data collection, research and data analysis. The candidate will work closely with the team to liaise with government stakeholders, prepare deliverables, communicate results, and support the internal team across projects. We are looking for detail-oriented people who are keen on working in the domain of data for social change.
Responsibilities
• Design and administer research tools such as surveys, interviews, FGDs, and observational checklists
• Conduct site visits for audits, surveys, documentation, and collection of primary and secondary data
• Undertake both quantitative and qualitative research on urban issues such as transportation, safety, women’s empowerment, and economic development
• Analyze data and support preparation of internal and external communication and project deliverables
• Engage and collaborate with stakeholders from government, private sector, and communities
• Support report writing and documentation aligned with project monitoring and evaluation frameworks
Desired Skills and Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Social Sciences, Economics, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
• Experience with data collection, research design, and analysis
• Understanding of policy implementation and evaluation, including program evaluation methods and performance metrics
• Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with a working knowledge of data analysis and visualization
• Working knowledge of GIS and Adobe Creative Suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi
• Ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders including government officials, private sector, civil society, and research institutions
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision
• Proven ability to multitask and effectively lead and implement tasks and programs
• Willingness to travel for work
• Interest in working at the intersection of gender, mobility, and social equity
